Corona De

Corona DeVil came with a whole set of challenges for me. However, I was impressed with how many new skills I was able to learn and apply in a single project. Although I do not have any natural-born singing talent, I focused on being confident while singing, and I found that the results were much better when I sounded confident, even if I still felt unsure of myself. To help with this, as I made up the lyrics, I tried making them silly and fun- something that could be sung in a non-serious voice. The lyrics were what I was most proud of. One of the major challenges I encountered was that my song I chose had a lack of musical instruments. In the original movie, Roger, Anita’s husband tries to embarrass her by making up Cruella DeVil the song, when Cruella is coming over. Due to this, he sings mostly A Cappella with some base beats. This made it incredibly difficult to strip away the vocals, as that was the majority of the track. Experimenting with both amplifying my voice through changing the pitch and the actual volume of my voice helped lessen this problem. To make his voice softer, I played around with cutting out specific pitches entirely, but sometimes that came at the cost of cutting out what little instruments there were. If I could change something, I would experiment with taking out the sound effects (the dogs, doorbells, etc.) in the background, even though I am not sure how I could do that because they are so integrated into the piece. Overall though, I think that this project was a perfect introduction to Pro Tools, a powerful audio editing tool, and I feel more comfortable with it, and I will hopefully use it in future projects. Finally, this project gave me a deeper appreciation for artists who work on sound and sound design because I was able to see firsthand how much effort has been put into the details to make it sound good.
